Tennis has given him so much joy and satisfaction that he wants to inspire and encourage people of all ages and abilities to take up this fantastic sport. His aim is to create lifelong tennis players who get to love the sport like he does.
Amit has being playing tennis for over 25 years and represented his previous club in the National Club league division A. He has 20 years of coaching experience and has worked for local councils at parks, schools and a variety of tennis clubs. Amit has been head coach at Cheam LTC for over 12 years and runs the junior and adult coaching programmes. He is passionate about teaching and prides himself on bringing through many juniors, some of whom have gone onto get a tennis scholarship for American universities. Amit’s focus is not just on the performance side but in getting the best out of people regardless of their ability, from grassroots to adult beginners. The process is the same and the outcome is based on maximizing one’s potential.

Favourite Player: 2 actually. Firstly, Boris Becker, who really inspired him to play with his powerful athletic game and his extrovert personality. Finally, Roger Federer, who, with his unbelievable talent, grace and class has moved the game forwards in an aesthetic way that millions can enjoy!

His well planned programmes have put the attitude of the player and character development at the forefront. As former Head Coach of Sutton Tennis Academy he is highly experienced in developing successful player pathways.
Shaun is a former LTA/BTCA ‘Young Coach of the year’ and is the current Surrey U14 Boys County Manager. Before completing a degree in Sports Science and a masters in sport psychology, both at Loughborough University, he competed as a national level junior and was a member of Judy Murray’s Scottish squad.
Recent results from Shaun’s players include a national champion, national finalist, and 7 champions at the 2018 Surrey County Championships. As a dedicated life learner he will look to grow from these experiences to offer his players an even better service in the future. He looks forward to getting on court with the players at Cheam LTC.
Cheam LTC Assistant Coach: Ash Horsman

Ash joined the club at the age of 9, initially through Amit’s term time coaching. Amit’s coaching style and personality helped to improve Ashley’s game significantly from a beginner to a player capable of participating in the Junior Academy.
Throughout the 12 years that Ash has been at the club, he has progressed from the junior coaching programme, to the junior academy and now plays regularly in the Men’s 1st team against other tennis clubs in the county.
Ash gained his Level 1 coaching qualification at the age of 18, whilst gaining valuable experience assisting Amit with the junior and adult coaching programmes. Now 21, he is currently completing his LTA Level 3 qualification.
Ash runs the Saturday Mini Red & Tiny Tots class and helps during the holiday camps. He also manages the website for Ace Amit Coaching.

Cheam LTC Assistant Coach: Dominic Sandy

Dom joined the club at the age of 7, initially through the Summer camps. As his love for the game grew, he joined a junior tennis programme at Cheam LTC, as well as having some individual lessons with Amit. Amit’s coaching style and personality made the sessions fun and enjoyable, while improving technique.
Throughout the 12 years that Dom has been at the club, he has progressed from the junior coaching programme, to the junior academy and now plays regularly in the Men’s 1st team against other tennis clubs in the county. Having won the U18 singles and doubles trophies, at the ages of 15 and 14 respectively, he was invited to join the Men’s 3rd team, where his confidence and self-belief grew.
After deciding to take a gap year before university, Dom seized the opportunity to gain his Level 1 & 2 coaching qualifications, whilst gaining valuable experience assisting Amit with the junior and adult coaching programmes.
Favourite Player: Federer, as he makes the game look so effortless and is graceful in both victory and defeat.
